President Benjamin Merkle and Fellow of Literature Dr. Jayson Grieser discuss the art and unique nature of Shakespeare's tragedies--this episode specifically using Macbeth as an example of what makes a "tragic hero."

Dr. Grieser joined the College faculty in 2007 after pursuing his M.A. (2003) and doctoral studies in literature at the University of Dallas. He completed his Ph.D. work on the poetry and perspectives of George Herbert at the University of Dallas in 2011. He received his B.A. in Liberal Arts and Culture, Cum Laude, from New Saint Andrews College in May 2002. At the request of the administration and faculty of the College, he represented the Class of 2002 and delivered the student address at the College’s Fifth Commencement. His senior thesis was entitled, “Jerusalem Owns Athens: Early Church Fathers on Classical Education.” Dr. Grieser and wife Hannah have five sons.
