How Some Christian Colleges Learned to Fear the Mob and Betray Christ

The mores and mantras of a nation’s educational institutions reveal much about its soul. As vice grows ever more brazen in modern culture, the rot often begins—or at least festers—in its places of learning.

One might expect Christian colleges to offer a bracing corrective to this moral decay. Yet, more often than not, these institutions prefer to stew in the stale air of their elephant-infested rooms rather than speak plainly against evil. Worse still, some have become willing purveyors of the very dogmas that undermine the faith they claim to uphold.

Many such colleges began with fervor and conviction, only to succumb, slowly and quietly, to the creeping fear of irrelevance, criticism, and financial ruin. In the name of survival, they have traded faithfulness for convenience and fidelity for favor. The result is predictable: Christian academia in the early 21st century is teeming with the timid and the dishonest—liars by omission, cowards by policy.

This poses a stark dilemma for Christian families seeking higher education for their children. Where can they turn? Which institutions can be trusted to fortify, rather than erode, the faith of young men and women as they step into the world? Who will guarantee that aligning with a ‘Christian’ college will not end in disillusionment?

New Saint Andrews is not where the faith of students quietly withers but where it is honed to flourish. It is a forge for cheerful troublemakers, righteous disturbers of the ‘peace’, steel-spined reformers, and joyful saboteurs of chaos.

For three decades, New Saint Andrews College has held the line. Its mission is unapologetic: to graduate leaders who shape culture living faithfully under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. At the heart of this calling is a creed unbent by fashion or fear: that Jesus Christ is God, that He rose from the dead, reigns as King over all creation, has given His Spirit, has revealed His perfect law, and is reconciling all things to Himself until He returns in triumph. This is the Gospel—not a therapeutic slogan—but the earth-shaking announcement of Christ's victorious dominion over sin and death.

In the light of this triumph, NSA remains immovably committed to Christ the King, proclaiming a message that transforms not only individuals but households, cultures, and nations. It would sooner shut its doors than betray the charge to honor Christ in all things.

New Saint Andrews is not where the faith of students quietly withers but where it is honed to flourish. It is a forge for cheerful troublemakers, righteous disturbers of the ‘peace’, steel-spined reformers, and joyful saboteurs of chaos. Here, students take up the tools to fight evil and plant good. Here, they learn to love and serve Christ, finding their place as leaders in the advancement of His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.
