What do NSA grads do with this degree?

As NSA’s Commencement ceremony for the class of 2023 draws near, some might wonder what comes next. What do graduates do with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Culture?

The answer: lots of different things. NSA’s liberal arts degree is multifaceted and usable across a spectrum of careers. This article is the first of a series of articles that will look at some specific NSA grads and what they do after graduating.

“I knew that New Saint Andrews was the education I wanted that would prepare me for life.”

Here are three NSA Alumni discussing their job experiences after graduating and how NSA’s degree prepared them for careers as diverse as videography, real estate, and law practice.

Daniel Foucachon, class of 2010, says he had plans to be an entrepreneur when he came to NSA. He says, “The plan was to do just one year, and then my plan was to get a very useful degree in business.” But he changed his mind after the first term and went on to do four years at NSA.

“I knew that New Saint Andrews was the education I wanted that would prepare me for life.” Over the last decade, Foucachon says, “I have started several businesses, learned about publishing, finance, videography, cinematography, and others.”

Daniel now serves as CEO for Roman Roads, a publisher of classical curriculum, and is the founder of Kepler, a consortium of independent online teachers.

Danny Bradley, class of 2020, says that NSA’s program gave him the tools he needed by shaping him spiritually. He says, “At NSA, my heart was being shaped over the four years that I was there to be more like Jesus.” This formation impacted the jobs he has worked, from real estate agent to sales at a talent recruitment job.

Bradley explains, “When your heart is being sanctified, you want to work hard, you want to bless your employer, you want to provide value to the customers you’re serving.”

Nick Heid, class of 2007, has worked in a variety of jobs as well. After graduating from NSA, he worked in sales, audio drama production, and now has a law practice.

Heid says Rhetoric class gave him particular tools that he used across all these jobs. He specifically discussed being copious, which he describes as “being able to talk about a variety of things to a variety of people.”

He adds, “I have felt those skills in sales: learning what made people tick, learning how to talk to them, to make a sale.” He says he also uses these skills in his law practice: “You get people in, all the time, with different stories and different fact patterns, and the idea is to make a connection with a client.”

Others go on to study at other higher education institutions, like Harvard, the University of Chester, Notre Dame, St. Andrews, and the University of Dallas.

NSA graduates work in a diverse field of callings. Some are firefighters and construction owners. Others go on to study at other higher education institutions, like Harvard, the University of Chester, Notre Dame, St. Andrews, and the University of Dallas. NSA graduates are civil engineers, flight instructors, financial investors, realtors, homemakers, retail managers, and the list goes on.

Life is not a nice neat box. Students need to be ready to face life in all of its forms. The liberal arts degree gives students the resources and skills they need to work in a multitude of callings.

NSA’s commencement ceremony is about marking what the students have learned at the college and sending them off to pursue a variety of careers and callings. Come join the celebration on Thursday, May 11
