Visiting Fellow of Philosophy

Dr. Mark Coppenger

Dr. Coppenger has come as visiting lecturer in philosophy for 2024-2025, having taught philosophy for decades, primarily at Wheaton College and two seminaries, MBTS and SBTS, from which he retired as Professor of Christian Philosophy and Ethics. He’s also been the senior pastor for three churches—a legacy church in Arkansas, a plant in Chicagoland, and an interim in Kentucky—a total of seventeen years. He has the BA from Ouachita, the PhD from Vanderbilt, and the MDiv from Southwestern. He directed a National Endowment for the Humanities program at Vanderbilt, was managing editor for the online Kairos Journal, and served as an infantry lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve. Through the years, he’s done short term mission work in Brazil, Russia, Sudan, Indonesia, Myanmar, Egypt, Belgium, and Romania. He and Sharon have three children and ten grandchildren.
