Spring Concert 2025 | Blessed Are They That Mourn

2:30 AM PST to 4:00 AM PST

In the Beatitudes, Jesus says, "Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted." (Matt. 5:4) We are not promised a life full of ease and free of tribulation; struggle and death will come to all. We are not told to simply buck up or grin and bear it; we are called to weep and mourn via example and commandment, but not as those who are without hope (1 Thess. 4:13), for "weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning." (Ps.30:5).

The New Saint Andrews spring concert Blessed Are They That Mourn will survey biblical examples of and teaching on weeping and lamentation in masterful settings by BillingsCarissimiLassusBachMozartBrahmsGinasteraDinerstein, and more.

This pathos-laden consideration of this somber topic will conclude with the comfort and encouragement of laughing mouths and singing tongues, for we know that "The Lord has done great things for us, and we are glad."

Join us on Friday, April 25, at 7:30 PM at the Moscow Church of the Nazarene for a night of mourning, awaiting the comfort and joy that comes in the morning. The concert is offered by the New Saint Andrews College Conservatory of Music, directed by Dr. David Erb.
