Dozens of NSA students joined with members of multiple local churches at a busy intersection in Pullman, Washington, this morning to stand in peaceful protest against Planned Parenthood and the practice of abortion. Organized by NSA alumnus Sam Paul with the help of other alumni, students, and area churches, the local protest was part of a nationwide event—with hundreds of protests reported across all fifty states—to speak out against the nation’s largest abortion organization.
The outcry against Planned Parenthood arose after The Center for Medical Progress released a series of undercover videos filmed over a three-year period, called Human Capital: An Investigative Journalism Study. The videos released thus far include footage of abortionists picking through glass dishes filled with the dismembered bodies of infants, interviews with a StemExpress whistleblower who witnessed illegal infanticide and organ harvesting on live babies in a Planned Parenthood clinic, and conversations with Planned Parenthood directors negotiating over the price of aborted baby parts. CMP claims to have more videos waiting to be released.
The local Moscow/Pullman protest was met by a mix of reactions from passing drivers—often a smile and a thumbs up, and sometimes a frown and different finger up. One passing motorist shouted, “You should be shot!” Many drivers, however, honked and waved in support as they passed the long line of protesters. In all, the protest drew more than 500 peaceful demonstrators who held signs, sang hymns, and prayed for the end of abortion.
