Meet The Problem Child

As our culture continues to decline, we are tempted to hide our kids from the coming storm. We see all the cultural confusion around us and think that our job is to wrap our kids in bubble wrap and keep them safe. 

We need a bigger vision for our children. We are not raising them to merely survive this godless culture, but to prepare them to advance God’s kingdom. We are more than conquerors through him who loved us (Rom 8:37). In a time of dragons, we need dragon slayers.   

We want our children to be fearless men and women who engage on the offense. While some might cower and hide, we want our children to stand strong and laugh. Our godless culture should shrink in fear at our faithful children. 

The way to achieve this vision is to bring up our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord (Eph 6:4). With a strong grounding in God’s word, we can give our children a Christian education that prepares them to attack the errors of our pagan culture. And many families are well equipped for this task in the K-12 years. 

But what happens when these young adults leave the home and step out into the real world? How can we help them navigate the cultural pressure in a biblically mature way? 

While some parents might think their children are ready to take on a secular college, this kind of institution wreaks havoc on a K-12 Christian education. In these secular institutions, Christian kids are regularly forced to keep quiet and avoid hard conversations. The capstone to their education becomes a lesson in keeping their heads down.

What if there was a better way? We should be looking for a way to equip our grown children for this godless culture. We should be looking for a place that will build them up so they are even stronger coming out of college than when they went in.

We are not interested in teaching students how to hide or how to survive Big Ed. We are teaching our students to be jolly outlaws, to actually look forward to Jesus answering the request that he taught us to make–that his kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.

We shape these jolly outlaws to be faithful in the normal things. Get married. Worship God. Have lots of children. Celebrate that God made us male and female. Mock the LGBT agenda. Teach boys to be men and girls to be women.
